A special building is any structure that is pre-existing on the map when a new city is started. Special buildings are not able to be moved or sold, are always placed in the same location, and count for 9/20 of the free building permits.
Swiss Shop
The Swiss Shop features the Swiss Bank, Swiss Upgrades, and Start In A New City. Swiss money 
and Swiss upgrades persist between resets when starting in a new city.
Wholesale Center
The Wholesale Center features the Market News and periodic Orders which exchanges a specified amount of resources in exchange for a reward in Cash 
, Policy Points, and Research Points. By default, the orders occur every 4 minutes, expire in 3-10 minutes, and can be Passed or Filled at any time before expiration. It's also home to Market News, game modifiers that reset with Crowdfunding (00:00 UTC).
Central Bank
The Central Bank features Wallstreet and Offline Earning summaries. Wallstreet outlines the player's current Market Cap, Building Valuation, Resource Valuation, and Stock Rating. Offline Earning outlines the player's current Overnight Interest Rate, Offline Earning, and Offline Earning Time.
Research Lab
The Research Lab features Science input, Research Point output & storage, and the Researches that are available to unlock Production Facilities that have had all required lower-tier resources researched.
Headquarters
The Headquarters contains numerous features:
- Player's can change their name and flag icon
- View unlockable Achievements
- View the Leaderboard
- Highlight structures for a few types of queries
- View the Build Queue and Max Builders
- Number of Building Permits and ability to buy more
- Settings
- Purchased Expansion Packs
- View and restore Steam Cloud Backups
- Credits and game version
Trade Center
The Trade Center features Player Trading, Auto Sell, Input Strategy, and Freight Warehouse storage.
Statistics Bureau
The Statistics Bureau features the Power Grid and dynamic Statistics Dashboard to view available resources and their input, output and storage.
Policy Center
The Policy Center features Culture input, Policy Point output & storage, and the Policies that are available and their status.
Logistics Department
The Logistics Department features the Transportation Overview detailing the Chosen Fuel Type 
, Fuel Economy, Fuel Storage, Production Facilities resource transportation costs, and which resources have free resource transportation cost.
